Invite for business owners to express their opinion on the pedestrian street initiative

Riga Municipality is assessing the possibility of implementing a pedestrian street initiative from July to September on sections of Antonijas Street and Dzirnavu Street, with the initiative operating every weekend.

Considering that in 2025, during European Mobility Week, a short-term pop-up pedestrian street was successfully tested for one weekend on Antonijas Street from Elizabetes Street to Dzirnavu Street, and on Dzirnavu Street from Antonijas Street to Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street, we would like to hear your opinion on implementing such an initiative regularly — every weekend during the summer period.

This initiative is planned in order to promote environmentally friendly mobility and draw attention to sustainable mobility and an urban environment where people feel safe and free when moving on foot, by bicycle, or by public transport.

Please note that during the operation of the pedestrian street, vehicle traffic will be restricted in the respective sections. This means that it will not be possible to enter or exit the inner courtyards located within these sections, and parking will not be available in these sections.

In order to assess the impact of the initiative and improve its organisation, we kindly ask you to complete the survey and provide your opinion by 16 June 2026.
